The Towers is located on Buckden High Street, close to the A I, about 60 miles north of London and two miles south of the AI/AI4 interchange. Peterborough, Cambridge and Bedford are each about 20 miles away. By train: The nearest railway stations are Huntingdon and St Neots which are both on the East Coast mainline.
The Main House - Fifteen bedrooms in the Main House have recently been refurbished and upgraded and can sleep a maximum of 30 people. They can be booked on a Bed & Breakfast or full- board basis. Most are twin-bedded rooms but there are also several family rooms and two single rooms. In addition guests have use of a sitting room and library. The Main House is a Victorian mansion built in 1872. It retains a wealth of original features, especially in the ground floor function rooms which can be hired for a variety of corporate and social events.
The Inner Gatehouse - There are four apartments which can accommodate between two and four persons each. Each apartment is fully equipped with self-catering facilities. The Inner Gatehouse was completed in 1480 and is one of the earliest surviving brick-built buildings in the East of England.
The Great Tower - The dormitories in the Great Tower can accommodate up to 40 people and are arranged on two floors each with its own toilets and showers. There are also four single rooms for teachers/group leaders. On the ground floor is a large activity room, while the basement contains a fully equipped kitchen, dining area and toilets.
Buckden Towers is owned by the Claretian Missionaries. In addition to its other activities it is a place for retreat, welcoming people of all faiths or none.
The Estate - Set in its own fifteen acre estate, Buckden Towers offers seclusion and tranquillity at an accessible location. A beautiful collection of buildings from diverse historical periods is surrounded by a variety of gardens and natural features including the Tudor Knot Garden, the lake, a woodland walk. pasture and lawns.
Buckden Village and Beyond - As a staging post on the Great North Road, Buckden has played host to visitors for centuries. Several inns dating back to the heyday of coaching and beyond still offer hospitality and fine food. Just a mile east of the village, the River Ouse flows through the Buckden Marina complex, while to the west is Grafham Water with its nature reserves and facilities for sailing, cycling and walking. Further afield, Cambridge and Bedford are each about 20 miles distant, while the lovely rolling countryside of Northamptonshire with its unspoilt villages and historic houses is near at hand.
